Some results from big affiliate: when he started to link to his own “intro” page, describing and promoting the item, with real affiliate link at the end of that page - it tripled (x3) his selling results, comparing to just direct linking to affiliated item page (from the ads he purchased).

There are a lot of “ipod stickers” items on eBay, with price of $0.01 and free shipping - although their price is actually higher. But this allows to seller to record postal addresses of iPod owners and send them marketing materials, coupons, sales letters and so on. You can do the same to gather userbase for many niches, even by selling something virtual, like ebook.

Price-per-click up 25% last year

Average cost-per-click rose 24.8% in 2005, from $1.29 to $1.61 on Google AdWords. Yahoo’s CPC jumped 30%, from $1.03 to $1.34. Shopping search engines rose from $1.87 to $2.56, a 36.9% increase.
